Neurodivergence Project at Palau Macaya, Barcelona

Building Bridges Between Minds and Diverse Perspectives

Winner of La Caixa Foundation’s Social Challenges Call – Palau Macaya 2025

Building Bridges Between Minds and Diverse Perspectives” is a social and artistic initiative led by EDAI that explores the space between neurodivergent and neurotypical experiences — not as a divide, but as a field of shared understanding.

The project was born from a simple but radical belief: difference is not an obstacle, but a source of knowledge. Through creative dialogue, artistic expression, and philosophical reflection, EDAI invites participants to rethink the notions of empathy, inclusion, and normality — and to imagine new forms of coexistence.

Structured as a multidisciplinary journey, the program includes philosophical dialogues, literary creation, theatre expression, and audiovisual exploration. Each activity is guided by co-creation methodologies that center on mutual recognition, horizontal participation, and the validation of lived experience.

The inaugural conference, “Understanding Our Differences: A Dialogue on Empathy and Neurodiversity”, brings together philosopher Agnes Callard (University of Chicago) and sociologist Damian Milton (University of Kent), creator of the concept of double empathy. Together with our Director Leticia Asenjo as moderator, they open a conversation about how we perceive and connect across neurological diversity — a reflection that lies at the heart of EDAI’s mission to foster a more empathetic, just, and reflective society.
